MOSCOW, May– Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, emphasized the importance of China and Russia working together to uphold the authority of the United Nations and protect the rights of developing nations.
Speaking in Moscow, President Xi stated that both countries must continue to oppose unilateralism and global bullying, highlighting their shared commitment to multilateralism and international law. He reaffirmed that China stands ready to collaborate with Russia in defending their mutual interests and ensuring a fair global order.
As permanent members of the UN Security Council, Xi stressed that China and Russia bear a unique responsibility to contribute to global peace and stability. He also called for a joint effort to preserve historical truth regarding World War II and to support the creation of a multipolar world that is equal, inclusive, and economically balanced.
President Xi is currently on a state visit to Russia, which includes attending commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
