Balochistan health department promotes 70 faculty members of BUHMS

QUETTA: Health department government of Balochistan has promoted around 70 faculty members of the Balochistan University of Health and Medical Sciences (BUHMS). The promotion of the faculty members was one of the long-standing demands of the employees of BUHMS.

“We have promoted all senior and junior faculty members”, Noor ul Haq Baloch, the Secretary of Health Balochistan told Quetta Voice. He stated that the faculty members include professors, associate professors, assistant professors, registrars.

The service’s status of the employees changed from civil servants to employees of an autonomous body after the promulgation of the BUHMS act 2017. This severely affected the service structure of faculty members and employees at the University.

“The government addressed this important issue of faculty members”, Mr. Baloch mentioned. The BUHMS act prompted the employees to stage protest demonstrations against the government. Continued protests forced the government to amend the act, which allowed the government to promote the faculty members.

Scores of employees and faculty members were retired without getting any pension, Noor ul Haq Baloch. The government took this initiative to encourage the employees and faculty members to improve the quality of education at the BUHMS.
