YDA stages protest demo in red zone of Quetta

QUETTA: Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan staged a protest demonstration at the Red Zone Quetta on Tuesday night in support of their demands. The doctors blocked the main chowk leading towards the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Governor’s House.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has urged the protesting doctors to end agitation in the light of the Balochistan High Court’s directives and assurance of the government. “A parliamentary committee was formed to have a dialogue with doctors”, Mr. Bizenjo said in a statement. He said the doctors have to be in hospitals rather than protesting on roads.
YDA office-bearers led the protesting doctors. The protesting doctors demanded of the government to address their grievances. Doctors’ protest has come two days after the Balochistan High Court (BHC) ordered the doctors to end the boycott of OPDs.
OPDs in all government-run hospitals started functioning on the directives of the BHC across Balochistan. “We are here to protest for acceptance of our demands”, Dr. Rahim Babar said. He demanded of Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo to intervene and address the issues of the doctors.
The doctors were demanding permanent jobs for ad-hoc doctors, an increase in the remuneration of doctors and the functioning of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
