Accused involved in child abuse convicted to 3 years RI in Quetta

QUETTA: A court in Quetta has convicted an accused involved in child abuse to 3 years rigorous imprisonment on Wednesday. District and Session Judge Quetta, Muhammad Dawood Khan Nasar has convicted the accused to three-year RI.

The accused identified as Sohail Khan had subjected a minor child to sexual abuse in civil line police jurisdiction. Police had registered FIR against the accused in 2019. The accused had fled after the registration of FIR. However, police arrested the accused and produced him before the court. The court convicted him after solid evidence in this regard.

The court also fined the accused Rs. 30,000. In the case of non-payment, the accused has to remain in jail for additional six months. The former chief justice Balochistan High Court (BHC), Mr. Justice Jamal Mandokhail had taken serious notice of increasing cases of child abuse in the province. He had directed the subordinate judiciary to ensure timely judgments about the cases relating to child abuse.
