Education Desk:

QUETTA: Higher Education Department Balochistan has appointed 221 female lecturers of various subjects. Female lecturers would be posted in all-girls colleges of the province, Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai, the Secretary of Higher Education Balochistan said.

The Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) had recommended the appointments of female lecturers a few days back. The Commission had conducted tests and interviews of candidates for posts of female lecturers in Balochistan.

“Through these appointments, we would overcome the issue of shortage of lecturers in colleges”, Mr. Bangulzai stated. The newly appointed lecturers would be posted in Quetta and all 33 districts of Balochistan.

As per the statistics of Balochistan Management and Information System, the number of inter and degree male and female colleges across the province is currently 180. However, currently, 140 colleges are functional in Balochistan. “The students’ enrollment in these colleges is around 1,00,000 male and female students”, the Secretary Higher Education informed.

The colleges were facing a shortage of lecturers, which had severely affected the education of the students.
