Zahoor Buledi urges Gwadar protesters to end protest

QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Planning and Development (P&D), Mir Zahoor Buledi has urged the protesters in Gwadar to end the protest as the government has accepted their all demands. Speaking at a news conference at Quetta Press Club on Tuesday, Mr. Buledi said the demands of Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman are genuine. “We have taken practical steps to address those demands”, the Minister stated.

Mr. Buledi’s press conference has come in the aftermath of the ongoing protests in the country’s port city. On Monday, thousands of women joined a protest demonstration in Gwadar to mount pressure on the government for acceptance of their demands. A large number of fishermen are also part of the protest. They demanded of the government address woes of the fishermen community in the port city of the country.

Eight illegal trawlers seized in Gwadar: Buledi informs

Mr. Buledi informed that a crackdown has been launched against illegal trawling in Gwadar. So far, eight illegal trawlers have been seized, he mentioned. He said the Maulana has admitted that notifications have been issued for addressing the problems of the people of Gwadar.

The P&D Minister informed that the government had adopted effective steps to restore border trade with Iran. He said all concerned quarters participated in a high-level meeting to resume border trade.

All necessary check posts abolished in Gwadar: the minister says

About the check posts, the Minister mentioned that all unnecessary check posts have been abolished. He said the government has realized the problems for the people in terms of their movement because of check posts.

Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman who belongs to Jamaat e Islami (JI) has been heading a protest demonstration for the last few days to mount pressure on the government for acceptance of their demands.
