Blast on Quetta Kandahari Bazar kills One, injured 10 people

A blast has killed one person and injured another 10 people in Quetta’s Kandahari Bazar on Saturday evening. Syed Fida Hassan Shah, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta said the blast has caused damage to nearby shops and smashed the glasses of vehicles. “We are investigating into the incident and the target of the blast”, Mr. Shah told reporters after visiting the spot. Three women and a child were also among the injured, the DIG Police informed.

Waseem Baig, the Spokesman Civil Hospital Quetta said one dead body and 10 injured were brought to the hospital for medical treatment. Mr. Baig informed that the man killed in the attack was identified as Syed Nida Muhammad son of Syed Haji Muhammad.

Rescue workers and people of the area rushed the injured to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. “We are investigating the nature of the blast”, a police official told Quetta Voice. The blast rocked the entire Kandahari Bazar located in the heart of Quetta city. Emergency imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured of the blast.

Initial police investigation suggests an improvised explosive device was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside. The blast also damaged four vehicles parked on the roadside.

CM Balochistan condemns the attack

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo has strongly condemned the bomb explosion. In a statement issued after the blast, Mr. Bizenjo has directed the police to submit a  report in this regard and bring the perpetrators to book. “The terrorists would not be spared”, Mr. Bizenjo warned.

The blast was heard far and wide in the city causing a panic.

Security tightened after the blast

Police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the spot soon after the blast. They put a cordon off the area to probe into the incident. The perpetrators of the blast would be brought to book, the Spokesman Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Balochistan said. He said the bomb disposal squad has conducted sweeping of the area to avert another untoward incident.

This blast has come a day after a landmine explosion claimed a life in Balochistan’s Kohlu district.
