Balochistan Assembly to debate Reko Diq in an in-camera session

Balochistan Assembly would debate the Reko Diq project in an in-camera session today (Monday). The lawmakers from the opposition and treasury benches have been directed to submit their mobile phones with assembly staff at the gate, a press release issued by the assembly secretariat said.

Members of the united opposition including Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F), Balochistan National Party (Mengal), and Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) had demanded of the government to brief them about the proposed Reko Diq agreement.

The Speaker of Balochistan Assembly had given ruling about the in-camera session about the multi-billion dollars project.

All ministers, advisers, parliamentary secretaries were also directed to keep their mobile phones with assembly staff to participate in the in-camera briefing, the PR stated. The lawmakers also directed not to bring any staff member along with them.

In the in-camera session, all private and government media were also banned for the coverage. All visitors of the assembly and MPA hostels were also barred from participation in the session. All private and government guards also banned in the premises of the assembly.
