QUETTA: Political parties, civil society, and people belonging to various walks of life took out rallies across Balochistan to express solidarity with oppressed Kashmiris on Saturday. Thousands of people turned out in Quetta, Pishin, Harnai, Khuzdar, Gwadar, Kalat and other districts of the province to express solidarity with voiceless people of occupied Kashmir.

Mega function held at Quaid e Azam Residency Ziarat

Ziarat: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo, Commander 12-Corps Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, Senior Minister Balochistan, Mir Zahoor Buledi and others participated in a function held at the Quaid e Azam Residency Ziarat. A large number of people from various walks of life and students participated in the function.

The protesters were also carrying Kashmir flags and banners inscribed with slogans demanding an end to Indian atrocities in the occupied valley. They also chanted slogans in support of Kashmiris. Shahina Khan, an office-bearer of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) led protesters outside Quetta Press Club. “Our moral support to Kashmiris would continue till freedom from occupation”, she told the protesters.

Rally taken out in Chaman

In Chaman: A large number of people turned out on roads and streets to express solidarity with oppressed Kashmiris. Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Captain (R) Jumadad Mandokhail also joined the protesters in a rally.

In their speeches, the speakers lashed out at the Indian government for committing crimes against the innocent Kashmiris. They lamented that United Nations and the international community should break their silence and play their role in ending atrocities against the defenseless people of the occupied valley. “Nation stands by the people of Kashmir”, Abdul Rehman Rafiqui, the district Quetta Chief of Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (JUI) told protesters.

The speakers demanded that the international community should play its role in the implementation of the UN resolution regarding the Kashmir issue. Strict security measures were adopted by the administration to maintain law and order situation on the eve of Kashmir solidarity day.
