QUETTA: Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha has directed the concerned quarters to take strict action against the elements involved in deforestation in various parts of the province. “Forests crucial for all living organisms”, the Governor said.
Director of World Wildlife, Rab Nawaz, and Regional Chief, Tahir Rasheed called on the Governor on Wednesday. The environmentalists thoroughly discussed global warming and other issues relating to climate change with the Governor.
“Global warming posing a serious threat to the world”, Governor Agha said. He said the present government has taken a number of initiatives to mitigate the impacts of global warming. “Green Pakistan program globally appreciated”, Mr. Agha mentioned. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken a keen interest in issues relating to the environment.
Governor Balochistan stated that the province was housing ibex, Suleman markhor, chakor Patridge, hubara bustard and other wildlife. “We want to protect wildlife since it is the beauty of nature”, he said.
The Governor urged the people to ensure maximum plantation to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
