Islamabad police conducted an operation in parliament lodges on Thursday evening. Police sources said Senator Kamran Murtaza was injured in a clash with police in the parliament lodges. However, Salahuddin Ayubi, the Member National Assembly (MNA) was also arrested by police. “I offer arrest along with my colleagues”, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, the Chief of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) told reporters. He urged workers across the country to come on roads and protest against the government.

Police have also arrested scores of Ansar ul Islam from the parliament lodges. “We will call our workers to reach Islamabad”, Akram Durrani, the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (JUI) told reporters. Opposition members also reached the parliament lodges. “We strongly condemn this attitude of the government”, Khwaja Muhammad Asif, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader said.

Tension prevails in the parliament lodges after a clash between police and Ansar ul Islam. “They brought 70 people in the parliament lodges”, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the Federal Interior Minister said. He said the Ansar ul Islam workers locked rooms and took control of the parliament lodges. “Our job is to maintain law and order situation”, Sheikh Rasheed said.
