At least four frontier corps (FC) soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack in Balochistan’s Sibi district on Tuesday. A senior administration official said that 10 FC soldiers were also injured in the attack.
“FC vehicle was targeted through an improvised explosive device (IED), he said. The injured were rushed to Sibi hospital for medical treatment. An emergency was imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured of the blast.
FC personnel and levies reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.
Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove strongly condemned the terrorist attack. In a statement issued after the blast, Mr. Langove said that the perpetrators of the blast would be brought to justice.
Separately, Balochistan government spokesperson Farah Azeem Shah also condemned the incident and expressed sorrow over the loss of lives.
In a statement, she said the sacrifices of the martyred FC personnel would not go to waste, and that it was the government’s top priority to “implement the mission of martyrs who laid their lives” for the country’s security.
“The sacrifices of martyrs will surely bear fruit and the sinister designs of [our] enemies will fail,” the spokesperson added.
She said the role of security forces in ensuring peace in Balochistan had been “exemplary”, adding that “anti-Pakistan forces were trying to sabotage peace in Balochistan.”
