Six coal miners injured in a gas blast in Harnai

HARNAI: At least six coal miners were injured in a methane gas blast in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Tuesday morning. Sardar Muhammad Rafiq Tareen, Deputy Commissioner Harnai said that the incident happened in the Zarghoon Ghar area of Harnai.

Mr. Tareen said the coal miners were extracting coal from the mine when there was a blast. All six miners were injured as a result of the blast. The injured coal miners were rushed to district headquarters hospital Harnai for medical treatment. However, three coal miners are still trapped inside the mine. “Rescue operation is underway to rescue the trapped miners”, Mr. Tareen said.

PDMA approached to provided rescue team: Deputy Commissioner

“We have approached the rescue team of Provincial Disaster Management Authority to make sure unhurt recovery of trapped miners”, the DC informed. A large number of people and coal miners from nearby mines gathered at the affected mine.

This incident has come a day after three coal miners were injured in a similar methane gas explosion in the Dukki area of Balochistan. Methane gas explosions inside coal mines of Balochistan have claimed scores of precious human lives in Harnai, Dukki, Mach, Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.
