Balochistan government has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to delay local bodies’ elections in the province. In a letter addressed to the ECP, the government has suggested local bodies elections after July 15.

The ECP had directed the provincial government to hold local bodies elections on May 29th. In the letter, the government mentioned that the Balochistan cabinet during its meeting on April 2nd had reviewed the ECP order and decided to delay. “Balochistan government is not in a position to hold LBs elections on 29th of May”, the letter mentioned.

It may be mentioned here that the ECP had directed the provincial government to hold local bodies elections on May 29 throughout the province except for Quetta and Lasbella districts.
