QUETTA: Former Member National Assembly (MNA), Mir Humayoun Aziz Kurd has parted ways with the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) because of differences. In a letter addressed to the party chief, Mr. Kurd expressed reservations and apprehensions about the party’s alliance with what he called the official party.

The former MNA claimed that the party compromised over the Reko Diq gold and copper project and six points were raised by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, the BNP Chief. He said the party is also part of the coalition government, which compromised the rights of the people of Balochistan on important issues.

“I have decided in principle to part ways with BNP”, Mr. Kurd reiterated. Mir Humayoun Aziz Kurd was elected as an MNA from Kachhi in 2008’s general elections on the ticket of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Later, he resigned from PPP and joined the BNP along with Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani prior to the 2018 general elections.
