2 people injured in firing incident at Dukki area of Balochistan

JAFFARABAD: A man and woman were killed in the name of ‘honor’ in Balochistan’s Jaffarabad district on Sunday. The incident happened in the Capital Farm area of the Jaffarabad district.

Police sources said an armed accused identified as Bahadur Khan opened fire and killed two close relatives in the name of ‘honor’. The accused managed to escape unhurt from the spot. Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to the civil hospital Dera Allah Yar. A large number of relatives and people from the area reached the hospital.

Dead bodies handed over to heirs

The hospital administration handed over the dead bodies to the heirs after the completion of necessary official procedures. A large number of women and men have been killed in Jaffarabad, and Naseerabad districts in the name of ‘honor’ during the last few years.

Repeated incidents of ‘honor’ killings have sent alarm bells among human rights and women’s rights activists across the country. “This is a brutal custom, which has claimed precious human lives”, Allauddin Khilji, the Chief of Aurat Foundation Balochistan said. Mr. Khilji demanded of the provincial government to bring the accused involved in such heinous crimes to book.
