A worker of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) was killed in Quetta’s Sariab Road area on Monday. Spokesman Balochistan Police in a statement shared with media said unknown accused opened fire and killed a motorcyclist in the city’s Sariab Road area.
The victim was identified as the brother of the central leader of BNP Mengal Musa Baloch. Soon after the incident, angry protesters blocked main Sariab Road and demanded the arrest of the accused involved in the incident.
Inspector-General of Police Balochistan, Mohsin Hassan Butt took notice of the incident and directed the police to arrest the culprits behind the attack. He assured the protesters that the attackers would be brought to book soon.
BNP workers block Sariab Road
The dead body of the BNP worker has shifted to civil hospital Quetta. A large number of BNP workers also reached the hospital after the incident. “We demand an immediate arrest of the culprits”, Malik Naseer Shahwani, the parliamentary leader of the party in the Balochistan Assembly said. Mr. Shahwani, Akhtar Hussain Langove and Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, the members of the provincial assembly also joined the protesters.
They ended the blockade of the road after successful negotiations with the administration. “We want the arrest of killers, otherwise, we will resume our protest”, Mr. Shahwani asked the administration.
MQM Balochistan condemns the attack
Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan Balochistan, Malik Imran Kakar has strongly condemned the killing of the BNP workers. He expressed grief and sorrow over the incident and demanded of the provincial government to arrest the culprit involved in the killing of the worker.
