Accused convicted to 7 year RI in a child rape case in Quetta

Quetta police arrested two accused of subjecting a 9-year-old child to sexual abuse on Tuesday. Police sources said the accused had subjected the child to sexual abuse on Quetta’s airport road. Both the accused were shifted to airport road police station Quetta for interrogation.

The ages of the accused were 17 and d19-years. “We are investigating the accused”, a senior police official said. He requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The case was registered against both the accused. The case was registered by airport road police station Quetta. Rights groups have expressed serious concern over increasing cases of child abuse in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. “Government has failed to protect children”, Wadood Tareen, the Chief of SEHER, a non-governmental organization said.

Mr. Tareen said cases of child rape were on a constant rise in Balochistan. “This is alarming”, he said.
