Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) seized a fake mineral water factory in Quetta’s Chashma Achozai area on Wednesday. As a part of a crackdown against the counterfeit mafia in the city, the BFA seized the factory making fake mineral water bottles from the famous Aquafina company.
“We have recovered thousands of fake mineral water bottles of Aquafina”, Muhammad Naeem Bazai, the Director-General of the BFA told Quetta Voice. During the raid, the BFA seized empty plastic bottles, fake labeling, and machinery, he informed.
The BFA immediately sealed the factory and started legal action against the elements involved in the fake business. Director of Operations of the BFA, Tariq Hussain led the operation in this regard.
The DG BFA Mr. Bazai mentioned that common people cannot differentiate between original and fake bottles of Aquafina. In Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, the sale of Aquafina is on the rise. Mr. Bazai demanded of the masses to point out such fake factories so that the elements playing with the lives of people could be apprehended.
The BFA has launched a crackdown against the elements selling counterfeit food items and mineral water in the city. Several raids have been conducted in the provincial capital in this regard. The BFA has also launched a crackdown against the elements cultivating vegetables and salads through contaminated water in the provincial capital. “We have destroyed vegetables cultivated through contaminated water on 400 kilometers area in Quetta”, Riaz Khan, the Deputy Director Operations BFA informed.
