HARNAI: A landmine explosion has killed two people in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Tuesday. Sardar Muhammad Rafique Tareen, Deputy Commissioner Harnai said that the blast killed two people in the Khost area of the district.

The unknown accused had planted a landmine on the road leading towards the coal mines area, Mr. Tareen informed. Two people were killed on the spot when their water tanker hit the landmine planted on the roadside, the DC mentioned.

The victims belong to the Tika Bala area of the Harnai district. They were identified as Salahuddin and Muhammad Ali. Levies personnel reached the spot soon after the explosion. The dead bodies were shifted to district headquarters hospital Harnai.

The dead bodies were handed over to the heirs after the completion of necessary official procedures. DC Harnai and personnel of the frontier corps also reached the spot of the incident and started investigation in this regard.

Landmine explosions have claimed scores of precious human lives in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Dukki and other parts of Balochistan during last more than a decade.
