QUETTA: Former Senior Minister Balochistan, Mir Zahoor Buledi has accused Sindh of stealing the province’s water share. Speaking on point of order during the provincial assembly session, Mr. Buledi said the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has failed to ensure fair distribution of water among the provinces.
The Balochistan Assembly session resumed here with deputy speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail in the chair. “Sindh continues to steal our water share”, Mr. Buledi said during the session.
Lawmakers from the treasury and opposition benches strongly condemned the continued stealing of Balochistan’s water share. They urged the IRSA to take notice of stealing the water share.
“Farmers suffer as Sindh continues to steal water”
Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) said Sindh and the federal government were stealing the water share of the province. “This has severely affected the farmers and growers in the green belt of Balochistan”, Sardar Khetran said.
Balochistan has always accused Sindh of stealing its water share. The farmers in Balochistan’s Naseerabad and Jaffarabad districts have been protesting against this practice for the last few years.
The house unanimously urged the Sindh government to take notice of this practice and bring an end to address the grievances of the farmers of the area.
The house also criticized recent delimitations in Balochistan and demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to review its decision in this regard.
The house criticize ECP for recent delimitations in Balochistan
Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) member, Mubeen Khilji drew the attention of the House to the objection raised by the Election Commission towards the delimitation of constituencies and said that the constituencies should have been formed on the basis of merit and not on anyone’s personal wish.
All the constituencies of Quetta have been affected by the recent delimitation. The Election Commission has given a month for objections to be heard. Malik Naeem Khan Baazi of the Awami National Party said that Nohsar and Panjpai have been removed from his constituency and included in another constituency but he does not care about it.
Most of the lawmakers from the opposition and treasury benches demanded of the ECP to address the grievances of the political parties in this regard.
