QUETTA: The ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leaders have convened separate council sessions in the provincial capital as political rivalry between the Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo and former CM Jam Kamal Khan further widened.
Chief Minister Quddus Bizenjo-led faction has convened the general council meeting at Boy Scouts Headquarters Quetta on June 19 (Sunday). This further complicated the ruling party’s situation, which was already suffering from internal divisions. The major reason behind the convening of the session is to remove Jam Kamal Khan as the President of the ruling party.

CM Bizenjo survives the no-trust motion on May 26, 2022
Currently, the incumbent Chief Minister enjoys the support of the Secretary-General of the party. Differences surfaced within the ruling party in October 2021 when the then dissidents submitted a no-confidence motion against the then Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.
Mir Quddus Bizenjo was a speaker of the Balochistan Assembly and led the dissidents to overthrow Jam Kamal Khan who was also the President of the party. Since then, the political rivalry between Jam and Bizenjo continues to widen.

However, Mr. Bizenjo survived the no-trust motion on May 26, 2022, as mainstream opposition political parties including the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (JUI) and Balochistan National Party (Mengal) gave a cold shoulder to Jam Kamal and his supporters.
