Two policemen martyred in Jaffarabad Balochistan attack

At least two policemen were martyred in an armed attack in Balochistan’s Jaffarabad district on Sunday. Abdul Hayee Baloch, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police said the armed accused opened fire at a police check post in the Qaidi Shakh area of Jaffarabad district.

The attackers were hardcore criminals operating in the area. When police asked them to stop, they opened an indiscriminate firing, he said. Two policemen identified as Mor Hassan Behrani and Babal Khan Kandrani were martyred on the spot. The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot. A huge contingent of police reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.

Attackers fled to Sindh province

The dead bodies of the policemen were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Jaffarabad. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The attackers entered into Jaccobabad area, the Sindh province after the attack. “We have conveyed this information to the Sindh police”, Abdul Hayee Baloch said. He said the attackers would be brought to book soon.

Funeral prayer offered

The funeral prayer of the martyred policemen was offered in Jaffarabad on Sunday evening. DIG Police Abdul Hayee Baloch, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Deputy Commissioner Jaffarabad and other high-level officials participated in the funeral prayer. Strict security arrangements were made on the eve of the funeral prayer of the martyred policemen.
