QUETTA: As a major relief, the Balochistan government announced a 15 percent Disparitary Reduction Allowance (DRA) and 15 percent Adhoc Relief Allowance for government employees on Tuesday.

This was one of the longstanding demands of the government employees. Two years back, the grand employees’ alliance blocked Quetta’s main hockey chowk for twelve days to press the government for acceptance of these demands.

“Government has decided 15 percent DRA and 15 percent ARA”, a well-placed official at the Balochistan Finance Ministry told Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. As a major relief to the pensioners, the government has also increased the pension by 15 percent, he added.

HPA, HRA increased by 100 percent

The provincial government has also increased the Health Professional Allowance (HPA) and Health Risk Allowance (HRA) by 100 percent. The major reason behind the 100 percent increase is to encourage the health professionals to improve health facilities for the masses across Balochistan, the official mentioned.

Besides this, he said the government has taken a number of initiatives to facilitate the government employees across the province.
