QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly has decided to take up the unannounced load shedding issue with the federal government. Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Department said a parliamentary committee would be established to take up the power outages in the province with Islamabad.
The session of the assembly resumed here with Sardar Babar Musakhail, the deputy speaker of the Balochistan Assembly in the chair. Members from the opposition and treasury benches lashed out at the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) for its failure to provide power supply to consumers and growers in Balochistan.

“We will a form parliamentary committee to take up load shedding’s issue with the federal government”, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Communication Works Department informed the house. He said the farmers and domestic consumers have suffered a lot because of unannounced and prolonged load shedding in Balochistan.
Growers have also blocked roads across Balochistan the other day against the unannounced load shedding. “This is an injustice on the part of QESCO and the federal government”, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, the provincial minister of food and member provincial assembly of the Awami National Party (ANP) said.
QESCO fails to provide power supply despite protests

Mr. Achakzai said growers have suffered losses of millions of rupees in districts Killa Abdullah and Pishin due to unannounced load shedding. The lawmakers said that despite repeated requests and appeals, the QESCO had failed to address the issue of power outages.
“WAPDA is not listening and giving cold shoulder to issues of Balochistan”, Malik Naseer Ahmed Shahwani, the parliamentary leader of Balochistan National Party (BNP) said. He stated that growers in Kalat, Mastung, Quetta, and other parts of Balochistan were protesting for last more than a month against unannounced load shedding. Despite protests, the QESCO and federal government were not ready to address their concerns, Malik Naseer Shahwani said.
