Green buses purchased by Balochistan government: Photo Quetta Voice

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to implement the Green Bus project in Quetta through Balochistan Public Private Partnership Board (BPPP), a 7 MGD solar desalination plant in Gwadar, and a 100 MW solar park in Hub.

This was decided in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo. Parliamentary Secretary Bushra Rind, Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Aqeeli, and other members of the board attended the meeting.

Managing Director (MD) PPP Unit, Dr.Noor Muhammad briefed the meeting about the proposed plans of the board. The partnership between the government and the private sector is being promoted under PPP worldwide, Dr. Noor Muhammad informed the meeting. With the promotion of PPP in Balochistan, investors worldwide will be attracted to Balochistan. The number of BPPP board members is 12 of which 3 members are from the private sector, the MD  BPPP mentioned.

The Approval of the establishment of the Executive Committee of the PPP Authority was given in the meeting. The meeting also approved other legal and administrative matters of the BPPP Authority.  In the meeting, it was decided to initially implement 15 projects under PPP

The projects include a green bus service in Quetta, a 7 MGD solar desalination plant in Gwadar, the development of Hub Special Economic Zone, and a 100 MW solar park in Hub. The projects include the development and functioning of the Bostan Special Economic Zone and other important projects

“Development goals cannot be achieved without taking Balochistan on the path of self-reliance”

“Development goals cannot be achieved without taking Balochistan on the path of self-reliance”, Chief Minister addressed in the meeting. To achieve self-reliance, the development of own resources and promotion of investment are necessary, unfortunately, in the past, no attention was paid to achieving self-reliance.

We have turned our attention towards the development of resources and their utilization for the development and prosperity of Balochistan. To promote investment, the government policy should be made more comprehensive, Chief Minister directed.

“The Reko Diq Agreement is an important step towards the promotion of investment in Balochistan. A Reko Diq Agreement will attract world investors to Balochistan”, Chief Minister stated.
