ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Saturday directed the television channels to avoid airing the live speeches of former prime minister Imran Khan. 

PEMRA has issued a formal letter to the managers of the private TV channels. The news of the ban on live speeches of the former premier was widely shared on social media. Journalists and social media activists took to Twitter and Facebook and shared the news of imposing a ban on the former premier.

There was no immediate response from the former ruling party i.e. Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI). During PTI rule, the same notification was issued by PEMRA banning the speeches of Pakistan Muslim League (N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.
