One person was killed and 13 were injured in a blast on Quetta’s sabzal road on Friday night. Police sources said unknown miscreants lobbed a hand grenade and left 1 dead with 13 people injured. “Police mobile was the target of the blast,” a senior police official said. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
However, no policeman was harmed in the attack. The injured were rushed to Civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. An emergency was declared in the hospital to provide basic health care to the wounded people.
Police and FC personnel reached the spot as an investigation into the incident is underway. Police sources said the attackers escaped unhurt from the spot. The blast damaged a vehicle and a rickshaw parked on the roadside.
Eyewitnesses said the hand grenade exploded between the rickshaw and the vehicle. The man who succumbed to injuries was stated to be the rickshaw driver.
Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove strongly condemned the blast and directed the police to submit a report in this regard. In a statement issued to the press on Friday night, Mr. Langove said the perpetrators of the blast would be brought to justice.
