Dr. Palitha Mahiphala, World health Organization(WHO) country head for Pakistan stated that the organization will continue to provide full support to control epidemics in flood-affected areas of Balochistan. Dr. Palitha expressed these views during a meeting with the Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddoos Bizenjo.
Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili and Health Secretary Hafiz Tahir were also present at the meeting. The WHO acknowledges the services of the Balochistan government for providing assistance and health facilities to the flood-affected people.
WHO’s praised the Chief Minister’s political insight and leadership skills. The government missionary played an active role in the flood-affected areas and provided immediate relief to the affectees, Dr. Palitha stated.
The country head Dr. Palitha further said that the flood crisis was very severe and could be controlled by the efforts of the provincial government. WHO will continue to provide full support to control epidemics in flood-affected areas and meet the health and nutritional needs of mothers and children, he added.
In the meeting, they agreed to increase the cooperation of the WHO for the provision of health facilities in Balochistan. Dr. Palitha assured to increase the cooperation to control polio-measles and other diseases of children under EPI on behalf of the World Health Organization.
More Vaccination Centers to be set up, CT Scan, Ambulance, and Motorcycles for Health Workers will be provided, the country head stated.
The Chief Minister of Balochistan expressed his gratitude to the World Health Organization for providing valuable support to assist Balochistan government.
