Syed Ali Shah:
QUETTA: Two factions of the former ruling party Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) emerged in Balochistan on Monday over the issue of resignations from assemblies. Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, the former chief of the party in Balochistan claimed to have enjoyed the support of four out of a total of seven lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly.
“We are yet to make a decision about tendering resignations from the assembly”, Sardar Rind told reporters in Quetta. The two factions within the former ruling party emerged in the aftermath of PTI Chief Imran Khan’s announcement about leaving the assemblies at the Azadi March the other day in Islamabad.
However, Naseebullah Marri, the PTI lawmaker, and the Balochistan Education Minister said the lawmakers would quit the assembly after the announcement of the party chief. “We will not practice any delay if the party chief asked for resignations”, Mr. Marri said.
PTI has 7 out of a total of 65 lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly
The PTI has seven lawmakers out of a total of 65 in the Balochistan Assembly. Naseebullah Marri and Mobeen Khilji are the two ministers from PTI in the Mir Quddus Bizenjo-led coalition government in Balochistan.
“I will show my strength when required in the assembly”, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind said. He said the lawmakers engaged in consultation and they are yet to make any decision about tendering resignations from the assembly.
Differences exist between PTI Chief and Sardar Rind
Differences developed between PTI Chief Imran and Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind over the appointment of governor Balochistan. And subsequently, the education portfolio was withdrawn from the former and handed over to Mir Naseebullah Marri. Marri belongs to Balochistan’s Kohlu district and he played a key role in the success of a no-confidence motion against the former chief minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan last year.
CM Bizenjo also enjoys cordial relations with PTI ministers Mobeen Khilji and Naseebullah Marri. Bizenjo recently resisted the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F) pressure, which asked him to oust the PTI ministers from the Balochistan cabinet.
It may be mentioned here that Sardar Rind has practically abandoned the party because of differences with party Balochistan chief Qasam Suri and PTI Chief Imran Khan.
