At least 24 people including 10 policemen were injured in a blast in Quetta’s Belili area. Police sources said a truck carrying policemen was targeted through a blast. The Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta, Azfar Maisar said two policemen were martyred and 24 injured in the blast.
“This seems to be a suicide attack”, a security official who declined to be named told Daily Quetta Voice via telephone. The policemen were coming from Belili to Quetta city when targeted. Initial investigation suggests a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the police truck. The death toll is likely to rise as some injured are in serious condition, Azfar Maisar, the DIG Police said.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the attack and directed the police to submit a report in this regard. In a statement issued after the attack, Mr. Bizenjo said the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to justice. He directed the administration to submit a report in this regard.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital Quetta and the combined military hospital for medical treatment. An emergency was declared in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured by the blast.
