A local court in Quetta convicted Hidayat Khilji involved in raping and filming girls to six years of rigorous imprisonment in two different cases. Police arrested Hidayat Khilji and his brother Khalil Khilji in the famous video scandal for raping and filming girls from Quetta’s Nichari area last year in December.
The judicial magistrate Quetta announced the judgment. The court also convicted his brother, the co-accused to three years of rigorous imprisonment in the case.
Despite repeated attempts, the Daily Quetta Voice was not able to speak to the lawyer of the accused in the video scandal case. Amid tight security, the two brothers were produced before the court and then the judge announced the judgment.
The court also fined Hidayat Khilji Rs. 5 lakh. However, Khalil Khilji was fined Rs. 3 lakh.
The video scandal was widely shared on social media and effectively reported by the mainstream national media. The Hazara community had also staged a protest demonstration for the arrest of the accused involved in raping and filming girls at that time.
