Police registered a first information report (FIR) against Gwadar Rights Movement (GRM), Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman for displaying weapons in the country’s port city. The FIR was lodged against Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman and the other 11 leaders of the GRM.

The police have also registered a case against Maulana Hidayatur Rehman, Shay Mureed, Hafeez Kiazai, Aslam Ashraf Tiger, Zahid Askani, Yaqoob Joski, Muhammad Sharif GRM Councilor Shafiq Baloch, and five other people belonging to Mada area. GRM has been protesting against the government for unnecessary checkings, illegal trawling in the Arabian sea, and other issues relating to the port city of the country.

Video of Maulana displaying weapons had gone viral on social media

According to the police, the Chief of GRM Maulana Hidayatur Rehman and his companions came to Ormarah city armed with modern weapons and displayed their weapons, and went to the sea shouting slogans against the Balochistan government. It has been more than three months since the GRM has been protesting against the government for acceptance of its demands. So far, the government has given a cold shoulder to the GRM protesters. Last year, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo held negotiations with the protesting Maulana and ended the agitation. However, the GRM claimed the provincial government had failed to address the issues faced by the fishermen community in Gwadar.

GRM protesting against illegal trawling

They are protesting against other issues including illegal trawling in Gwadar city and during the protest, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman announced that if the government of Balochistan does not stop the illegal activities, they will take arms and go to the sea and kill the trawlers in Balochistan.

On the other hand, the fishermen of Sindh are protesting against Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch in Karachi. Fishermen from Sindh have threatened to stage protest demonstrations against Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman and other leaders of GRM for inciting the public against them.
