Manan Mandokhail, Syed Muhammad Qaseem:
QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday ordered quashing all three first information reports (FIRs) registered against Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) leader, Azam Swati. A single bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch passed this order on a petition filed by the son of PTI leader Azam Swati in Balochistan.

Senior lawyer, Naseebullah Tareen Advocate, Syed Iqbal Shah Advocate, and others appeared before the court on behalf of Mr. Swati. Police had registered three FIRs against Azam Swati in Killa Abdullah, Windar, and Bela. The applicants had accused the former ruling party’s leader for using foul language against State institutions and requested the police to apprehend the former lawmaker and punish him as per law of the land.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Mr. Swati for the second time in Islamabad under the Prevention of Electronic Act 2016 PECA in the federal capital a month ago. However, Balochistan police arrested Mr. Swati after the registration of five FIRs against him in the province.

BHC had ordered the quashing of all 5 FIRS earlier

Amid tight security, the former federal minister and a key leader of the PTI were brought to Quetta by police. However, a division bench of the BHC had ordered quashing all five FIRs registered against the PTI leader. The court had ordered the release of the PTI leader. However, police produced three fresh FIRs registered against Mr. Swati in Balochistan.
Court has quashed all FIRs registered against the PTI leader, Naseebullah Tareen, the lawyer of Mr. Swati said. He said now there is no case against the PTI leader in Balochistan.

Mr. Tareen said Islamabad police had already lodged FIRs against the PTI leaders on the same allegations in the federal capital. It was against the law to register similar FIRs against the latter in Balochistan or Sindh, Mr. Tareen explained.
