At least five people including a husband, wife, and their three children died in a traffic accident near Khanozai on Wednesday morning.

Five of the unfortunate family lost their lives when their car collided with a trawler coming from the opposite side.

The dead include a deputy superintendent of police Mukhtar Malghani, his wife, and three children. The dead bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital. However, all the victims had their last in the spot.

The family was going to Islamabad from Quetta when the tragedy struck. Levies personnel reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The car was completely destroyed in the accident.

Road accidents have claimed thousands of precious human lives during the last few years on national highways linking Balochistan with the rest of the country and neighboring Iran and Afghanistan. Deadly accidents have become the order of the day on the Quetta-Karachi highway and now it is a common notion that people call it a ‘killer highway’.

Narrow roads/highways and reckless driving continue to claim precious human lives. The province which covers half of the country in terms of area has not a single kilometer motorway.
