At least one policeman was killed and two injured when armed accused opened fire at the police vehicle in the Kalat district of Balochistan on Friday evening. Police sources said the armed accused opened fire at the vehicle of the additional station house officer (SHO), Nazeer Ahmed Umrani.
A police constable identified as Nazeer Ahmed and Abdul Majid were seriously injured in the attack. Police said Nazeer Ahmed succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital. However, the doctors were providing medical treatment to the injured constable Abdul Majid. The additional SHO Nazeer Ahmed Umrani was unhurt in the attack.

The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot. A police contingent reached the spot of the incident as an investigation into the incident went underway. Security was tightened in and around Kalat in the aftermath of the attack on the police party.
