Mr. Anjum said the driver lost control of the bus because of overspeeding and subsequently, the passenger bus fell into a ravine. The driver of the passenger bus also died in the incident. The bus went from Quetta to Karachi when the tragedy struck. Heartbreaking scenes were witnessed at the spot of the accident.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident and directed the concerned authorities to provide better medical treatment to the injured in the accident. Home Minister Balochistan, Ziaullah Langove also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic accident and directed the police and levies to submit a report in this regard.
The heirs of the victims were critical of the bus service and the federal and provincial governments. “We want justice”, Maqbool Ahmed, one of the heirs of the victims demanded. He stated that the bus driver was also responsible for the tragic accident since he was overspeeding when the tragedy struck.
Narrow roads and reckless driving have claimed thousands of precious human lives during last few years. Especially, tragic road accidents have become the order of the day on the Quetta-Karachi highway. The highway is being called and known as the ‘killer highway’.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already inaugurated the dualization of the highway linking Balochistan with Karachi and other parts of Sindh province. However the slow pace of work shows that the highway cannot be completed within the stipulated time.
