Secretary Information Balochistan, Hamza Shafqaat on Wednesday said the provincial government was committed to promoting the newspaper industry in the province. The Secretary paid a visit to the Director General Public (DGPR) office and inspected various sections of the office. “The issues of the journalist community would be addressed on a priority basis”, the Secretary of Information said.

On this occasion, Director Advertisement Syed Tanveer Akhtar and Deputy Director Najeebullah briefed them about the advertisement section and various departments of the department. He said that in the light of the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudous Bizenjo, measures are being taken on an emergency basis for the immediate payment of the due amounts (bills) for advertisements in newspapers and journals.

Secretary directs immediate payment of newspapers’ outstandings

He directed the officers in charge of the concerned sections to speed up the process of payment of dues to newspapers and journals. President Officers Welfare Association, Inayat Rehman and senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.

While appreciating the overall performance of the department, he expressed the belief that the staff of the department will enable timely and effective publicity of ongoing government projects in a more comprehensive manner. He directed that the information cell established in the DGPR should be activated immediately and submit a report in this regard.

He said that all biennials in charge and article writers should be instructed not only to write articles and features on the development projects of the provincial government but also to post the written articles, features, and articles on the social media handles of the Public Relations Department for public awareness.
