A woman was killed and seven passengers were injured in an explosion inside the Jaffar Express on Thursday morning.
Police sources said the blast happened inside the washroom of the passenger train. When the train reached Chicha Watni, the explosion happened, police sources said.
The injured were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. The passengers train was going from Quetta to Rawalpindi when the incident happened.
The nature of the blast is yet to be known, police said. Police reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the blast and expressed condolence over the demise of the woman and the injury of other passengers. In a statement issued after the blast, the CM said the perpetrators of the blast would be brought to justice. He said the government has already directed to tight security of the passenger trains traveling from Balochistan to other parts of the country.
