Govt committed to conduct impartial inquiry of Barkan incident: Bizenjo

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddoos Bizenjo said that the Balochistan government is committed to conducting an impartial inquiry into the Barkan incident. This statement was revealed by the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Balochistan, Imran Gichki during his meeting with Additional Chief Secretary Interior Zahid Saleem and IG Police Abdul Khaliq Sheikh.

The meeting discussed issues related to the Barkan incident. ACS Interior and IG Police briefed the meeting on the progress of the investigation so far. On behalf of the Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister, ACS Home, and IG Police were informed about the instructions of the Chief Minister in the context of the incident.

“The Chief Minister is reviewing the situation himself”, Principal Secretary said. The Chief Minister will be informed about the progress of the investigation. There is a clear instruction from the Chief Minister that an impartial investigation should be ensured, he added.

No one will be allowed to influence the investigation, nor will any pressure be accepted. The blunt stand of the provincial government.

Background of the incident

Levies force discovered three dead bodies a mother and her two sons from a well in the Barkhan district of Balochistan. This triggered a strong protest by the Marri tribe’s men as dead bodies were from the Marri tribe.

Hundreds of protesters marched towards Quetta with dead bodies to raise their voices and prevail justice. Khan Muhammad Marri the heir of the victims accused Sardar Abdul Rehman Kethran, Minister C&W department Balochistan of murdering his family members.

Police on Wednesday evening arrested Mr. Khetran in connection with the recovery of the three dead bodies.
