At least five people were killed and 16 injured in a blast in Balochistan’s Barkhan district on Sunday. The bomb went off in the Rakhni Tehsil of the district, police sources said.

Police said unknown miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) in a motorcycle parked outside a barber’s shop in the Rakhni bazaar. The IED exploded with a big bang, killing four people on the spot. However, another injured succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital.

10 serious injured shifted to DG Khan

The condition of the 10 injured out of a total of 16 is stated to be serious, police informed. The seriously injured by the blast have been referred to Dera Ghazi Khan for medical treatment.

Initially, all of the injured were rushed to the Rakhni hospital for medical treatment.

CM Balochistan condemns the blast

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the blast and directed the administration to provide better health facilities to the injured. In a statement issued after the blast, Mr. Bizenjo said that government would not spare the elements involved in this act of terrorism.
“The terrorists would be brought to justice”, the Chief Minister said.

Rana Sanaullah condemns the attack

Federal Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah also strongly condemned the attack and directed law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits behind the attack. The interior minister said that stern action would be taken against the perpetrators of the blast and they would be brought to justice.

Security tightened in Barkhan

Security was tightened in and around the Rakhni bazaar in the aftermath of the blast that rocked the town of Balochistan bordering Punjab province. Levies and police personnel were deployed at all entry and exit points of the district to maintain a law and order situation. “We deployed additional levies force on all sensitive points”, another senior administration official told Daily Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
