Six members of a family died and four were injured in a gas leakage blast in Quetta on Tuesday. The incident happened in the Double Road Sirki Kalan area of the city.

The dead include two minor girls, a woman and three sons.

Police sources said the hapless family had left the gas heater on and suddenly the supply suspended during the night. When the head of the family identified as Maulana Abdul Aziz tried to switch on the gas heater, there was a huge blast, police said.

The entire mud-walled room collapsed as a result of the blast, police mentioned.

Gas leakage incidents claim scores of precious human lives

The injured were rushed to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. Police and rescue workers reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies from rubble of the house.

Gas leakage incidents in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan claimed scores of precious human lives during this winter season.

There was no response from the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) regarding the tragic incident.
