Professors of Balochistan University symbolically launched a charity campaign for the salaries of the faculty members and employees of the university on Monday evening. A large number of university professors, lecturers, assistant professors, and employees of the university gathered outside Balochistan Assembly and staged a protest demonstration.

“We have symbolically launched this charity collection campaign to sensitize our rulers”, Nazeer Ahmed Lehri, one of the protesters told Daily Quetta Voice. The protesters were chanting full-throated slogans against the university administration and the Balochistan government for their failure to solve the financial issues of the university.

Women faculty members were also part of the protest

Women faculty members were also part of the protest demonstration outside the Balochistan Assembly. Balochistan University and the University Law College remain closed for more than a week because of the financial crisis.

“Our faculty members and employees are deprived of their salaries for the last three months”, Professor Fareed Achakzai, another protester said. He said the rulers were least bothered about the plight of employees and faculty members.

The financial issues of the university were also echoed in the Balochistan Assembly. Lawmakers also discussed the closure and the financial crisis inside the university and stressed the need for an immediate solution.
