Four policemen were martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Quetta’s Kuchlak area on Tuesday morning. Police sources said an operation was conducted at the hideout of terrorists in Kuchlak.

The terrorists opened fire on police and martyred four policemen, a senior police official said. He said one terrorist was also killed when police retaliated.

The dead bodies were shifted to the hospital. A large number of the heirs and police officers reached the hospital when the dead bodies of the martyred officers were brought. Police conducted this operation after two policemen lost their lives in an armed attack in the Kuchlak area the other day.

Later on, the funeral prayer of the martyred policemen was offered in the police line in Quetta. Commander 12-Corps, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor, Inspector General of Police, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, and other high-level civil and military officers participated in the funeral prayer. After the funeral prayer, the dead bodies of the martyred police personnel were moved toward their ancestral homes.

A pen bomb injured a seminary student

In the Saranan area of the Pishin district, a seminary student was injured when a pen bomb exploded. Levies sources said the seminary student was using the pen when it suddenly exploded. The injured seminary student was shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.

Levies personnel reached the concerned madrassah/seminary after the incident and started an investigation into the incident. Levies said no arrest was made in connection with the pen bomb. However, they said in-charge of the madrassah and other senior teachers were being investigated regarding the pen bomb.

These incidents have come a day after a bomb explosion claimed four lives including two policemen in Quetta’s Kandahari Bazar area. Panic prevailed among the people after repeated incidents of terrorism in the provincial capital.
