At least four people died after falling into a house well in Quetta on Friday. According to the details, the incident took place in Quetta’s Qambrani Road. On receiving the information, the police and rescue agencies reached the accident site and carried out rescue operations.
The family members accused the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for their failure to reach the spot timely. “We were calling them for one hour but there was no response”, Ishfaq Ahmed, one of the family members of the victims lamented. He said all four would have been saved had the PDMA team arrived on time.
Spokesman to CM Babar Yousafzai reaches the spot
However, the Spokesman to the Chief Minister Balochistan, Babar Yousafzai reached the spot and reviewed the rescue efforts. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yousafzai expressed sympathies with the broken family. However, he did not announce any compensation for the broken family members who lost their loved ones. Although, residents of the area demanded of the Spokesman to the CM to announce a compensation package for the heirs of the victims.
According to sources, the four bodies were removed from the well after the struggle and shifted to the civil hospital, a woman is also among the dead. According to reports, the child fell into the well and three more people lost their lives while trying to save it.
Heirs of the victims were critical of the PDMA
Scores of residents of the area and rescue workers gathered outside the well to participate in the rescue efforts. The residents of the area and family members of the victims were critical of the PDMA.
Despite repeated attempts, there was no response from the PDMA with regard to the incident.
