The Balochistan High Court (BHC) issued notices to the federal government and Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Chief, Imran Khan regarding a petition seeking registration of treason case against Mr. Khan on Wednesday.

A division bench of the BHC comprising Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Mr. Justice Amir Rana issued notices in this regard. The court fixed July 25 as the next date of hearing of the case after summer vacations.

Razzaq Shar Advocate had filed the petition against Imran Khan

Slain senior lawyer, Abdul Razzaq Shar Advocate had submitted a petition in the BHC seeking registration of treason case against the former prime minister Imran Khan for dissolving the assemblies.

Amanullah Kanrani Advocate, the counsel for the slain lawyer and the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association appeared before the bench and sought registration of the treason case against Imran Khan, the PTI chief.

JIT has already summoned the former prime minister regarding the killing of senior lawyer on June 26 in Quetta

Razzaq Shar Advocate was killed in a firing incident on Quetta’s Airport road on June 6 this month. The son of the slain lawyer, Siraj Ahmed Advocate nominated the former premier in the murder case of his father.

Issuance of notices to Imran Khan and the federal government has come a day after the Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) summoned the PTI Chief on June 26 with regard to the murder of the senior lawyer in Quetta. Notice was being served through Lahore Police to the former prime minister Imran Khan, a senior police officer said, giving no other details. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
