The Balochistan National Party (BNP) blocked all national highways across the province against the prevailing tense situation in Wadh tehsil of Khuzdar district. BNP workers blocked main Quetta-Karachi highway at Kalat on Monday morning.
The province remains disconnected via road link with various parts of the country as the BNP workers blocked highways.
Quetta-Jacobabad highway blocked
In Quetta, BNP supporters led by Malik Naseer Shahwani, the parliamentary leader of the party in the Balochistan Assembly blocked main Sariab Road as a part of the protest. “Our protest is against law and order situation in Wadh”, Mr. Shahwani said.
The party had announced a wheel-jam strike across Balochistan against the tense situation in Wadh. The party has termed the tense situation in Wadh a conspiracy against the party Chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal.

BNP supporters also blocked main Quetta-Jacobabad highway, Quetta-Taftan highway linking Pakistan with neighboring Iran and Loralai Dera Ghazi Khan highway.
“We will continue our protest against these conspiracies against our leader Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal”, Akhtar Hussain Langove, the member of provincial assembly said.
In scorching heat, the passengers remained the worst sufferers of the blockade of highways by the BNP supporters. Long queues of vehicles could be witnessed at all highways as a result of the wheel jam strike. Women, children and patients remained the worst sufferers of the wheel jam strike.
No untoward incident reported from any part of Balochistan
The provincial government has taken strict security measures to avoid occurrence of any untoward incident on the eve of wheel jam strike in Balochistan. Levies and policemen have been deployed across the province to maintain the order.
