QUETTA: Chief of the National Party (NP) and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Malik Baloch on Wednesday strongly condemned the renaming of the Gwadar International Airport. The Baloch nationalist leader took to the social media network Twitter and said the name of the airport should remain Gwadar.

“This is unacceptable”, the former CM said. This statement on behalf of the former CM has come after the National Assembly adopted a resolution renaming the Gwadar International Airport as the Feroz Khan None Airport.

Late Feroz Khan None was the Prime Minister who played a key role in including the Gwadar into Pakistan from the Sultanate of  Oman on December 18, 1958. On 8th September 1958, Pakistan purchased the Gwadar enclave from Oman; Gwadar officially became part of Pakistan on the 8th of December, 1958. Gwadar is strategically located at the apex of the Arabian Sea and at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.
