KOHLU: The Quick Response Force (QRF) foiled a major terrorism bid by seizing a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kahan Tehsil of the district on Monday.
Levies QRF Sibi Zone took action on the report of intelligence organizations in the area of Tehsil Kahan, Levies sources said.Ā They informed a large number of arms and ammunition were recovered in the operation.
3 anti-tank mines also recovered
The weapons recovered by levies forces include 03 anti-tank mines, 08 anti-person minesĀ (APMs), 02 APM small, 04 rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) 7, 04 BM 12 missiles, 05 hand grenades, 08 81 mortar rounds, 01 120 rounds in operation.
Mortars were destroyed, 01 Russian mortar, 14 AGS 17 grenades, and one kg of explosives were recovered, Levys officials mentioned. A total of 12 guns were also recovered in the operation, Levies officials narrated.
The operation was underway for 11 hours
The operation continued for 11 hours continuously, in which more than 40 levies officers participated.
Kohlu is considered to be one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan. Militants in the past have carried out attacks against law enforcement agencies and pro-government officials in the Kohlu area. However, there has been calm in the district for the last few years following successful intelligence-based operations in the district, which borders with Dera Bugti district.
