QUETTA: Police arrested the Chief of the Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM), Manzoor Pashteen, in Chaman on Monday evening. Raja Athar Abbas, the Deputy Commissioner of Chaman, said armed accused from Pashteen’s vehicle opened fire at the police vehicle in Chaman city.

However, PTM leaders accused law enforcers of opening fire at Manzoor Pashteen’s vehicle. PTM stated that Pashteen was unharmed in the firing.

The DC Chaman mentioned that levies and police reached the spot after the firing and arrested Pashteen from the Gudamo area of Chaman.

Jan Achakzai, the caretaker information minister of Balochistan, said Manzoor Pashteen had addressed the Chaman sit-in without the approval of the administration. He termed PTM as an anti-state organization. Pashteen was trying to proceed from Chaman to Balochistan’s Turbat city when the incident happened. He was scheduled to address the participants of the sit-in in Turbat.

The minister stated that an FIR has been lodged against Manzoor Pashteen by police in Chaman. He said four people were also injured as Pashteen’s guards opened fire.
